Default speedometer accuracy?

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question but does anyone out there think the speedometer is off?
I am having a hard time believing that I am going as fast as it says I am. I have only had her for 6 days and the
few times I have been on the hgwy I've been up to 100. It doesn't seem like I am going that fast. I have driven a Jeep wrangler
for the last 8 yrs and between the road noise and wing resistance I got a feeling of my speed. Is it just cause the mustang
rides some much nicer? On the same note, I put 200 miles on her and can't believe that as well. Is something wrong with
my car or my head?
Thanks

The 2005 Mustang GT is simply a fine Automobile. I feel the same at times. It sure has some getup and go!!

Unless you live in an area where the hurricanes hit last year, there are little signs on the hiway called mile markers. Get a stopwatch and use that 3rd grade math education.

It is true its just that the car is very quick through the gears and it rides with such balance that its hard to imagine that your going that fast.

I recently traded a civic in for my stang...

I knew how fast I was going in my civic without looking at the speedometer...

In the Stang, 60 feels like 40, 80 feels like 55, 100 feels like 75... I've already started saving money back for the speeding tickets

we got slammed by IVAN but still have the mile-markers LOL!!

my odometer was reading 90mph when I got pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol...and only by the grace of god was i let go with a warning...the citation, however, did say i was doing 90 in a 65 so i'd say it was pretty accurate

I have a GPS that I use on road trips and have found that it is pretty accurate.

Slightly off topic but oh well.

I have the Garmin GPS MAP 60CS. Not the optimal unit for the car cause of screen size and orientation but it works great.

http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap60cs/

It has real time routing when you buy the City Select maps for it.

http://www.garmin.com/cartography/ma...cityselect.jsp

All you do is plug in you destination and it maps the route for you. It has thousands of point of interest loaded too. For expample, last night I was meeting the wife and kids at a hotel. I just searched for the hotel name in the city that I knew it was in and it did the rest.

I also use it for hiking and backpacking so that is the primary use. I have the suction cup mount for it so I stick it up against the left side of the windshield.
