SHR Louvers - How they doing?
Marcus makes a good point. If SHR does the paint its on them. I had a shop do mine and they did a less than perfect job.
And a word of warning about masking them yourself. If I'm not mistaken the material used has to have a particular prep before painting. I don't know if it has to be done before you tape it off or after. So I would check this out with a paint shop before ordering an unpainted set.

It's not just the masking. A lot of bodyshops aren't used to painting on this type of material, and that can cause problems as well. Not only is the paint job from SHR great, but they inspect each part before it goes out. So you know you're getting a good paint job the first time.
I had a body shop paint mine and they turned out fine. The louvers came with material precut to use for masking. I also had the shop clearcoat the louvers so there wouldn't be an edge between the paint and the unpainted portion, they called SHR and were told it was okay to clearcoat the clear part.
I think these louvers are one of the coolest retro mods you can do.

I have had mine on for about a year now and no problems at all. I even installed them myself with the kit from SHR. Like others have said I would have SHR paint them for you.If you decide to have them prepainted be prepared to wait. From the time I placed my order to the time they arrived was about 5 weeks. It was worth the wait though.
let SHR paintem. Once you see them youself in personwill know exactly why it takes some skill to do these: the product is acutally totally clear before painting, there are deep wells in them, and the little clear windows that are a result of the taping are well, small, trapezoidal in shape, hard to tape and hard to coat evenly, etc.
One thing I want to absolutely stress: once you get them do a FULL, COMPLETE inspection of them in good light, looking through them from both sides into a strong light source. If there are any issues that you notice contact SHR directly.
As you can probably read from Marcus and Wingman, they are a tricky job for painters who are not real familiar with them.
I love 'em. They are distinctive and to me they give a much different 67/68 fastback-type feel instead of plastic louvers taped to the window.

damn now you guys have me nervous! I have these louvers and the Agent 47 mirrors being painted right now in preparation for install at CJ's Pony Parts. I hope when I go up there to inspect the louvers/mirrors prior to install I'm not going to be disappointed.
