Ok guys, so i just kinda had this random idea for a unique look for my car.
Since Ford doesn't have a "cobra" model per se on the S197's, i got to thinking, what about making my own "cobra". Now what they did was kinda take a car designed or whatever by shelby and throw the cobra logo on it, but it's not called a cobra, so they didn't really make a cobra for the S197's.
Now, what do you guys think if i was to put cobra badges on my stang and take off the GT badges. I just want to clarify i do not mean adding GT500 badges to make it look like a shelby, just adding cobras to the car.
I also plan to do some performance mods, so it's not a stock GT but it's not a GT500 (well the power of a GT500). It's like a inbetween, like a custom GT which i would dub the "cobra", line if Ford actually made one for the S197's.
I dunno if yall will understand what im trying to say, i havn't slept all night so this might not make much since.
Anyone think this sounds like a good idea? I don't want to be a poser/fake/rip off/etc, hence i just want the cobra's but nothing that actually says GT500 on it.

If you like it bro go for it, some of these guys on here are going to rip on you but what does that really matter? I happen to love the cobra emblem it is the coolest emblem on planet earth...

yeah i know some people are going to get mad. I know some people are also going to reference to the super snake. Seriously, super snake, who the hell came up with that name.
I'm just saying i would like to make what i would think would be the cobra if ford did produce one for the S197 body style. I guess that's the idea that i'm thinking of.

Then like a Cobra decal on each side of the car to replace the GT logos and then a cobra on the back, then the cobra on the front grill like the GT500, and mabye like another cobra decal centeted between the 2 air vents in the middle.
Just a quick thought on placement. Though i would really like to have the cobra decal like stitched into each of the headrests in my car in red. BTW my car is red, so it would match nicely. Now i dunno how hard it would be to stitch something like that into leather. Anyone know if that would be possible to do. Like is there any place that specializes in stitching?

well, i agree with 06elnr - you have every right to do whatever you want with your car; if something makes you happy and you think it's cool, then go for it.
that being said, however, and since you asked for some opinions on whether or not "...this sounds like a good idea...," i'll offer you my 2 cents: i do not think it sounds like something you should do. is the cobra emblem cool as hell? yes! is it a designation specifically assigned to a given line of ford mustangs? yes! therefore, can you filch the name and symbol in order to put on your car? well, yes, but you shouldn't. otherwise, you are engaging in the practice of "posing," something you admit yourself you wish to avoid. just mho.

Tasca Ford up in RI put together a cutsom package for the S197. They added exhaust, body kit elements (louvers, scoops, chin, hood scoop,) a blower of your choice, some suspension, bunch of other goodies.. 'the whole 9 yards.' They have a dyno there with a performance group. Anyway, Tasca as you know is legendary in the Mustang world. They use the badging "cobra Jet" on the hood scoop in script. Kinda throwback. Pretty cool visit. Took out a vista blue 'cobrajet' they had on the lot for a spin. NIIIIIICEEEEEE.
