RE: couple of CAI / tune / air ram questions
actually there is a great cai intake/ ram air kit made by WMS. its more pricey and requires moving the reseavor which they supply the stuff to do. not many run it cause if the price but from what i here it is hands down better the the typical cai out there. i think they are something like $470 for everything including the replacement plastic inclosure. im hoping to get mine in the next month or so.

The shaker hood states it boosts overall performance but I believe they're referring to it cooling the engine compartment only, not force-feeding any air into the intake manifold. The GT engines heat-soak pretty bad, especially in warm weather, and any cooling affect from air flow is a gain, however minimal. I doubt it does anyreal "ram air" functions. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not to change Mike521's thread, but it might be of some use......, but I just looked into gettinga Shaker systemput on, because I am scared SHI#LESS about cutting a hole in my hood as per "TacoBills" how-to guide, they quoted me a price of $1850 before tax!! And the kit according to the link in this thread is priced around $800...does a grand for labor sound right? It doesn't to me...I could probably do it my self except for the hood. Any input?

Personally, I'd order a custom 93 oct tune and Xcal2. As well as their C&L intake with 88mm MAF tube, which is bigger than the C&L Street but smaller than the C&L Racer. The C&L Racer MAF tube is overkill on a nearly stock car.

Hi Mike,
You can get a packaged Cold Air Intake and SCT tune combo from places that have tested the intake on cars similar to yours. They have come up with their best adjustments and sell that to you as a "canned" tune. I purchased my Steeda Cold Air Intake and SCT tuner from Brenspeed.com. They asked me about what mods I had and shipped me the handheld SCT with 3 tunes already installed.
You can also bring your SCT tuner to a speed shop that has a dynometer and they will put your car up and test is on site. Custom tunes are more time and money.
The Cold Air Intake and SCT tune is extremely popular and the I feel the best mod for the S197 cars. A safe investment.
