Actually, I'm not too surprised. They don't want to fool with aftermarket, non-ford parts in case there is a warranty-fitment issue. No doubt their work is good, but they are just covering there own arsses.

dealrship where i bought my car from refused to do a gear swap for me. we didnt even get into where i would get the gears from - they just said they couldn't do it.
I had a similar experience. I was told that you could not change the gears in a 2006 Mustang because the computer wouldn't allow it. I walked away as they were still talking to me.
