Default A/C Cycling

Newbie here....I recently noticed the A/C continually cycles on/off. The A/C appears to be running properly, it's just annonying to hear the thing click on/off every 5-10 seconds. Wasn't sure if this is normal or not-am I just being paranoid?

my A/C cycles frequently as well. it is annoying, but it blows constant cold, so i assume all is well. hopefully, the frequent clicking is normal.

OT: anybody notice how much heat comes through the vents when you don't have the A/C on, especially at highway speeds? it was 65 yesterday morning, and the air coming out of the vent was really hot when traveling on the highway, even with the thermostat solidly in the blue. around town, the vented air was nice and cool, so i assume engine heat somehow gets sucked into the vents at speed.

Heat coming through the vents when the A/C is not on?

Never noticed it, however I used to have the same problem on my last car. After a bit of mucking around, I realized that the **** on the right (the one that controls where the air is coming from) needs to be pointed straight up (aka OFF), which should stop all air flow.

Unless you turn the A/C on or these vents off, you will most likely continue getting hot air.

While the heating core probably doesn't have hot coolant actively flowing too it, it is still hooked up to the same system, and it will become hot. For air to enter your car, it has to pass through the heating core. Hence, you get hot air even with the heater off.

Granted, this is just *what I think*, if I'm wrong, someone please let me know

I have had two different Ford Service departments "listen" to the click of the compressor while in
operation. Both said it is "Normal", the dealership I bought the auto from even started a Black GT on their lot and the darn thing clicked and clacked just like mine. I have been running mine for a while now here in Texas with no change.

You start walking around listening to the darn compressors on other vehicles for comparsion. I seems like F-150's also have the same "sound"/ noise coming rom their a/c.

System works fine though......

Well at least it's good to know that it is not unique to me.

I also noticed how warm the ambient air is coming through the vent. Believe it or not my Mustang was a replacement for an RX-8 and the temp of the vent air flowing through it was a helluva lot hotter-felt like a hair dryer.
