Default Motor Mounts and Strut Tower Brace

Will changing the factory motor mounts to Prothane Motor Mounts lower the engine enough that I can use the Ford factory plenum and not have it rub on my strut tower brace? I have the Roush brace on mine right now, and there is no room for a plenum cover.

I am not just thinking of doing the Prothan because of this, but also to help out on the 2-3 shift problem with the torque.

Will JDM motor mount lower the engine even more? I have seens pics of the JDM's, and it looks lower, but how to the normal Prothane compare to JDM's?

Thanks,

Sean

Just get the Agent 47 strut brace if you are worried about clerance, it is both the stiffest and tallest brace there is I beleive.

The other thing you can do, is drill out the rubber grommet on the factory plenum cover, then put it on first, then put the stud for the fuel rail through the grommet. Doing this instead of just capping the rubber grommet on top of the fuel rail stud gains a ton of room...

First pic is with the STB and factory cover installed as a cap type mount. Second pic is with the grommet drilled out, and the plenum cover mounted below the fuel rail stud.....

I just installed the Steeda brace and it clears the FOMOCO plenum cover.

jdm's lower the engine, the regular prothanes do not. The JDMs are modified prothanes I believe

The 'standard' prothene mount actually raises the engine up about 1/4".
Side by side they are the same height as the factory mounts, but they don't sag from the engine weight.
Can't comment on the JDM as have not seen those.
