drilling suggestions...
I've ordered the GT500 spoiler and will have to drill the holes in my trunk since I have the spoiler delete option. What is the best way to do this? Do I need to place tape over the spot that I'm drilling to protect the paint? Suggestions appreciated as it will be hard enough to get up the nerve to do this. My other option is to have the body shop at my dealer do it for $80.00. Thanks!

RE: drilling suggestions...
If you have a template for it place that over the trunk. Then, use an auto-center punch on the holes in the template. This will set the spot for the holes and once you see the little indents in the trunk, simply drill straight down. You should probably put some sort of blanket or cover inside the trunk so you don't get all the burrs in it.
I wasn't too confident doin the drilling either, but I did 7 for my hoodscoop, and it fit fine. If you really really can't stomach the install, take it to someone who can do it for you. I will say $80 is a lot of cash for what they will do for you.
Good luck!

go to a hardware or carparts store and ask for one. it is a tool that looks kinda like a short fat pencil with a long lead...lol. what it does is, you put the sharp end on the center of the spot where you want the whole and you push it down and it makes a pop sound. then you have a small dimple to start drilling so the drill bit does not "walk" on you.

An auto center punch is just a spring loaded center punch. You can get them at most stores that sell tools. I got mine at Harbor Freight for about $2.00. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...Itemnumber=621 Be sure that once you punch the spot for the hole you start with a much smaller bit than the hole calls for. Once you have that hole drilled then you can come back with the bigger bit. It is a good idea to put a blanket or piece of cardboard down in the truck to catch the drillings. Otherwise you will just have to vacuum your trunk

I appreciate all of the information, will hopefully be doing the installation this weekend.
Darkfire GT - I received your message, thanks for the offer but I'd like to hold on to the same trunk.

Be sure and use a drill bit designed for steel and not one
of those cheap ol wood bits that will corkscrew thru the
body panel distorting it. They are sharpened at different
angles and the wood bit ius just for wood. Get a HSS bit.
Drill a small pilot hole the same size as the web on the
drill used for the desired finished hole size.
Paint the raw metal edges with touch up paint.
