Default BBK cold air induction kit anyone have one, any good?

I found aBBK cold air induction kitbrand new for 200 bucks. Are these any good? I dont have a air intake and i don't know much about them. What are the advantages? any disadvantages? Will this lean out my motor at all? It says 15HP increase withouta tune, think that is realistic? Thanks, Jordan

The claim that you "won't need a tune" is crap. I installed one on my 06 GT. I went for about a month before the check engine light came on. Running lean was problem. In the instructions suplied by BBK they tell you to "switch to high octane" fuel if the check engine light comes on. So I removed my BBK. I am waiting until the warranty expires, then I will install the BBK when I also load a tune. If you want a CAI then go with a tune at the same time. Thats my two cents. Hope it helped.

I think that applies you have to have a tune for ANY kind of CAI for it to get any kind of advantage. Otherwise the engine management won't alter the combustion to cater the increased amount of incoming air.

Installed both the BBK CAIK and 62mmTB on my 06. Have never gotten a CEL, it runs great, and have never regretted it. I see a lot of negatives about BBK's but I think more has to do with installation and hype of what they THOUGHT it would do. I found an unmaried Diablo Predator here in the classifieds and uploaded the 93 octane tune. Verynice improvement. The support @ Diablo is1st rate and they pointed out there is not aBBKspecific tune but could contact Bamatune if I wanted something written. But again, their 93 tune works great.

I don't run it as a track car or as my DD. Be sure if you upload a 93 tune (regardless of where you getit) NEVER ever put 87 back in or you willget trouble. Stick with lead brands. Pretty much any other CAIK WILL require a custom tune.

06GT 5 Speed/ BBK TB & CAIK/MGW/Borlas and an excellent Predator tune.
