Default Battery Problem

So my car isnt really starting, every time I want to turn it on i need a jump. I took it to advance auto parts and they did a "diagnostic" on the computer and the computer found nothing. We looked at it and the light inside the battery was red and the battery appeared to be leaking battery acid. My question is will this be covered under my warranty (2006 w/ 17900 m) and also could this have been caused by my after market sound system. Thanks in advance

it might be covered under warranty and
it might not.

you didn't mention the alternator, so keep
in mind the possibility of a weak charging
system

Sounds like it is definitely a bad battery - leaking acid. Usually, batteries are pro-rated based on how old they are - at Sears, you get a new battery if it fails within the warranty period for $1 - not sure about Ford though. Best thing is to call the dealer and ask the service department. Good luck.

This should be 100% covered by the 36,000 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. The dead battery problem is notorious, I've had it myself.

Take it to the dealership for a new battery. There won't be any warranty issues. If the battery is leaking acid then it has nothing to do with your sound system.

Unless it was damaged during the audio installation. []
Batteries dont just start leaking acid for no reason.

I would get it changed as soon as possible. You don't want the battery acid to start corroding components inside of your engine compartment.
