Default CAI/Tune Help

I see everyone says that is the first step in upgrading your performance???

Which cold air intake???
Which company for the tunes and what tunes?? Bamachips???

And what would the cost be???

2008 Mustang GT Auto by the way

I know there are threads on this, but I could not really understand what I needed specifically after going through them.

Thanks
Alex

P.S. What is the deal with changing gears???

I was pretty happy with my AEM & predator tune, but i think i am going to go C&L with xcal2 this time around. That seems to be the thing to do lately.

check out www.brenspeed.com and bamachips.com

i suggest you call one and speak to someone about it and they will help you out to the best of their abilities. to this date, i still have not seen ANY negative feedback with them. i'll be calling them very soon. i'm getting the c&l race intake and tune(s) from brenspeed.

congrats and welcome to the forums.

From reading these forums I'd say the JLT2 and C&L CAI's are probably the most popular or at least the most often purchased. As far as tuner, the predator and the SCT x.cCal2/xcal3 seem to be the most often referenced. What ever CAI and tuner you choose it is probably going to cost you $550-$600 with 2 tunes (most get a 87 octane and an 91/93 octane tune). Brendspeed and Bama are by far the most often used "shops" to obtain these mod's...I don't think you can go wrong with them. I've never heard anyone say something negitive about them.

JLT II & a BAMA race tune is the best bang for your buck. Doug has the best tunes when it comes to AUTO's especially. I've driven one and it is a blast. You really feel the difference from the upgrade as compared to a manual car.

GT Automatic
JLTII + Bama Race 93 Tune
Stock 13.8 @ 101 mph
CAI/Tune 13.2 @ 105 mph

I dont know if thats typical but its the biggest gain Ive ever seen from a CAI/Tune.
...andno I dont have slips. It wasnt my car.

I only went from 13.49 to 12.95in my manual.

From what Ive seen tires and gears will only net 2/10. A car with 4.10's and MT's (compared to my3.55 and Pirellis)running the same Traps out 60's me by 0.19 and the ET difference is 0.19 in 60', 0.21 1/8 mi, and 0.20 1/4.
