If I lived in an area where it snowed, my solution would be a beater car. Mustangs are not meant for snow.
You just have to know how to drive. I was looking for a cheap alternative to buying the $800 set of snow tires. We drive the GT everyday. Now garage queen here.
No garage queen here either, but I know what road salt does to a car and I wouldn't put mine through it.

Tree huggers won't let them use salt here. It is mag-chloride spray and cinders here.

Another central Ohioan and my DD! I'm too attached to mine, couldn't stand putting it in for the winter. Too much fun!! I'm running the stock Pirellis and I haven't had a bit of problems. I had more problems in the heavy rain with hydroplaning than I ever have with snow. Quite frankly its a blast to drive in the winter. I do HATE seeing it so dirty and have salt all over it though. [:@][:@] That part just kills me

The way I look at it, I'm not going to keep the car long enough where I will have to worry about what the salt will do. Not to mention I wash the car once a week in the winter (every two weeks at most).

Also, I'm not going to subject myself to driving a P.O.S car for 4-5 months out of the year because of a little bit of salt; doesn't make much sense to me.

I drive mine year round... Chicago winters are brutal but I get around... You just have to drive carefully if you go out before the plows hit the streets... I've found that I turn traction control off when it's icy though or I'll never get anywhere....

We gotsome the other day, andI had the opportunity to plow through 6 inches of fresh, virgin snow. Absolutely no problem with Blizzacks. I'm ready for spring, however.

I don't know if everyone knows this or not. But when Ford designed the S197, they made the design to include for climate in the Northern States. Hence the dreaded wheel gap in the rear. It was intended to leave enough clearance for chains.

Living in MI I drove my last year with snow tires and personally I wouldn't drive anything else. The car did really good, providing you don't drive like an idiot. But know its garaged and I got a Kia for year round driving.
