Scott,

I had a 1984 Mustang GT that was gigged up pretty good at the time. I remember driving from Vegas - where I lived at the time - to San Diego. Ahem... Needle Buried!

The speedo actually broke that trip if memory serves correctly! [8D]

The Capri had bald rear gatorbacks at the time.....do they still make those tires? The Capri now has Michelins. Fun to drive still today,

Later,

I have also made the round trip from San Diego to Vegas and back in just over 8 hours. I even stopped to have some breakfast and sign some papers. I was on the ST 1100 at the time.

I am a truck guy and always have been - this is the first sports car I have had since my Scirroco when I was 18!!!

My last 6 cars/trucks have been:-

Dodge Ram
Kia Sorento (amazing value, shame about badge!)
Chevy Blazer
Jeep Wrangler
Suzuki Jeep
GMC Jimmy

NONE of the above are fast at all - although the wrangler had a little quickness to it but nothing like your sports cars!!!

My first 72 Nova (250 i6) would do 100+ in second gear, oh wait it had a Powerglide tranny didn't it.

D Day!

BTW - For the non-chevy influenced, the Powerglide is a 2 speed tranny. Very popular for drag racing now actually.
