I truly hate to sound like a dick with my answer, but IF this is a serious question (and I'm thinking it's not based on the fact that you have been here long enough to post 392 times!), then my answer would have to be that you have no business owning a car if you seriously don't know how to remove a dipstick! If you ARE serious, then I gotta wonder what your real motive is for asking. Are you SEEKING smarta$$ answers? Well, if you really don't know, then uhhhhh....you joined in May '07....so who's been checking and/or changing your oil throughout the past year? If it's Dad or Uncle or neighbor Jim, then why haven't they shown you? If you're taking it to a dealership or a place like JiffyLube, then why haven't you learned from them yet?
I'm sorry. I know that's a pretty sh!tty response, but come on.... OIL is the most important thing about your car, and if it's taken you a year since joining this forum to try to figure out how to check it, then you should be riding a bike or a bus or driving a 1975 Dodge.

I doubt that he didn't know how to check his oil, I think he was asking how to remove the actual dip stick tube. Maybe he could clarify?
Even if it was a question with a simple or obvious answer, you don't have to be a complete ***. Maybe some people aren't as mechanically inclined as others. Leave the guy alone.

Well, the only reason I could think of why he wants it off is he's putting on headers or some damn thing. Where'd he go? Come back OP....come back.

Which headers require removal of the dip stick to install them? I have MAC LTs and I didn't take mine off...

Don't know which ones they were. I did a search for the take off procedure for the guy and I got a header install directions and after reading down the info, it said to reinstall the tube.

I'm guessing here... but he probably bought one of those aftermarket bling dipstick handles which requires you to reuse all of the OEM dipstick, expect the yellow ring handle. You have to remove the OEM yellow ring and re-attach the aftermarket handle to the OEM 'stick'.
