PLEASE RESPOND
i posted a question earlier today, but no one has answered.please be kind enough to answer:with the stock cats and h pipe, will cuting the mufflers out and replacing(welding)new pipes with just tips(no mufflers) sound good or not?i see a lot of placesypes, loud mouths....sell these pieces to delete the muffler, but i can weld and have access to 2.5 inch stainless pipes and tips. doesn't our (stock)motor need some back pressure?I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but i am new to this(mustangs)and would really appreciate the help...
thank you for replying,
any pics or vids would be great!

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
This is a very opinionated question. Some people like the sound of just straight pipes and others don't. I don't but that is just my OPINION.
Yes your Stang needs someback pressure.
Look on youtube for videos.
Do you have a tune for your car from a speedshop or did you just buy the hypertech

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
IMO, I think it would sound like crap. Dont cut out the h-pipe. If you want a louder exhaust then change the axel back kit, simple. Sounds like your trying to do to much work when its pretty simple.

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
I read on another site that someone did that only they also gutted the cats and it sounded really bad- like a dump truck or something. If you want to change your sound for free just unbolt the stock H-pipe and take crowbar and a hammer and beat the inside of the cats out. There is alot of material in there but it is really easy to do and it makes a big difference. Ofcourse your check engine light will come on- but it doesnt effect drivability and can be corrected with a tunner. I have done my car and my friend's car. Of course i also bought some flowmasters off ebay for about 50 bucks. Mine is loud and mean and i like it!

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
I can't say for sure on the back pressure but there are several videos on youtube with folks running no cats and straight pipes on the S197's. Not saying they are right but people are doing it.

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
Stay with some sort of axle back muffs.
Straight pipes will be louder than you can stand after awhile.
FRPP sells some loud ones.

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
DO NOT mess with your stock cats. If you don't want them then get an O/R mid pipe, they are cheap and easy to install.
If you need the cats later they are expensive to replace.

RE: PLEASE RESPOND
We put straight pipes on my dads and it sounds great.IMO. My car has the same. When I got rid of the cats with an Off Road X pipe it got that nasty trumpeting sound. I put on 2 resanators and now it sounds great again. This is how mine sounds now. I'm getting a vid of just the muffler delete from my dads.
