Bama Chip TQ Tune vs. X-Pipe
I had a buddy install the same mods...4:10/Steeda UDP's/C&L CAI and dyno tune. My stock numbers were 266/285 and his were 262/284. He had an off road X installed and I didn't. I dyno'ed 297/300 after and he did 307/330. The TQ # was impressive. In talking with the shop they credit the higher #'s to the X that I didn't have installed.
I can see how they got the extra 9 HP off the X but 30 additional foot pounds of TQ? I called back to see if they saved the tune but they didn't and want $300 for the X and installation. That's OK but they want another $300 to dyno tune the car. The other owner said that they spent a couple of hours on the car and when they modified the cam timing they picked up the TQ.
So (finally) my question...
I know he will have a few extra due to the X but if they picked up 30 additional foot pounds of TQ when messing with the cam timing is that what BAMA does for their TQ tune? I'm tempted to get the BAMA tune and load it and have it dyno'ed at the next dyno day to see if I can get a better # without spending $600. I can get the TQ tune and Race tune for $100.
The shop said that they just started getting into tuning that aspect of the S197 so perhaps BAMA will get me more since he hadspent long hours perfecting his programs?
Any thoughts? Any one have before and after #'s with a BAMA tune with the same mods?
P.S. Sorry for any spelling error's. I'm also getting ready for the Gator Nationals tomorrow and this issue is bugging me.
