HELP!!! RATTLE WITH MID MUFFLER INSTALL
ORIGINAL: 07torchredgt
I took your advice and checked under the car while running. Same problem, It is the hanger vibrating against the bracket, and I plan on using the same solution... Should be an easy fix...
Much appreciated,

i had the same thing with my mid muffler system,i hated to even drive my car,for me it was the exhaust hanger, back where the muffler should be,that hanger was actually hitting the bracket for the hanger,i bent it out a little and slipped a pice of heater hose on the hanger part and no more rattle.
check you hangers.mine would do it around 2200-2600 rpm,i actually put the car on ramops and had my wife rev it up while i was looking for the cause and thats the only way i found it.i think its from the engine shifting the exhaust back and right at that rpm,its so close to make it rattle.

I have the Pypes Mid-Muffler system and I love them. I strongly suggest you take it to a good muffler, exhaust shop to install. Unlike many of the axle-back units on the market, this system can be a PITA to install because it consists of 4 pieces. As mentioned in other posts the hanger rods may touch the frame once the exhaust warms up and expands. Another problem is that the over-axle pipes may touch the panhard bar if you don't set it properly. These are issues that are much easier for a shop to resolve because they can heat the hangers and make adjustments with their heating tools while the car is on a lift. I had to bring it to my exhaust shop twice to make these adjustments. When I went back the 2nd time, I also had them install the Pypes Hanger brackets ( 4 of them. ) While I don't think this was really necessary, the brackets made the exhaust feel a lot sturdier. Car now sounds great and doesn't have any issues whatsoever!!!
