My pypes!
hey guys, i installed my pypes last week, they sound great..real pain in the *** to get the stock exhaust off, but i managed, car sounds great, ill post a video clip in a bit, but 3 days after i installed the exhaust i got my pypes x pipe as well, really nice. I had to cut the stock h pipe out and bolt it up to my exhaust (wasnt really fun)..didnt exactly fit like a glove either, i can hear that i have a slight leak,
so i really wanted to get whole exhaust welded just to reassure myself i wouldnt be dragging down the highway if i hit a bump hard enough, because i really dont trust those clamps, so i went to a meineke they do all kinds of stuff, and asked them how much they charged just to weld my exhaust (heres where it gets interesting) so they put the car on the lift to look at it...and he said he wants 150$ to weld the two joint connecting the pipe from the cats to my x pipe, i tried to bargain with him and ask him why so much? he said it hard..lol i laughed and said give me your welder ill do it myself...so now i have to find someone to do it cheaper...ahh wtfff
edit:not to mention it vibrates against my gas tank either

RE: My pypes!
Interesting. I'm planning on installing either a Pypes X or a Prochamber (both splice-in) soon, and I was wondering about the price to get it done professionally. $150 is ridiculous for two welds. I think I'll use the clamps and some Permatex exhaust repair stuff http://www.homeandbeyond.com/prod-0087528.html
What were the problems you had with the fit of the Pypes X? Was it the 409 or 304 stainless steel?

well i did mine on my back in my garage...and you need to cut the stock h pipe out in order to get this one in..and if u dont measure right, u can screw alot up..i didnt screw up at all wasnt that bad..it sounds about the same a little bit louder..and i did feel some power out of it..i believe it was 409..it was shiny..lol if that helps..i paid 99$ shipped from brenspeed

Ok, the brenspeed one is 409. The Pypes site has both. The 304 is more expensive.
I'm wanting the power and the slightly sharper exhaust thumping.
I knew the H had to be cut. I am also considering the FRPP splice-in X-pipe like they put on Shelby GT's. I wonder if they weld them in or clamp them? Maybe someone with a Shelby GT can chime in on that.
