Was going to go with the Valentine 1...
... over the Bel STI but, after reading review after review I decided on the STI and ordered one this evening. I know the V1 is a darned great unit but I've owned 2 Bels over the years and have been happy with them.
While I wait for this new toy, does anyone have any tips on location and use? What location on the windshield works best for you from a reachable and unobstruction standpoint?I'll probably NOT hardwire it since I expect to use it occasionally in my SUV.
Thanks.

i mounted my V1 on the very top of my window to the right of the rear view mirrow. I used the same hard velcro that the EZpass boxes attach with. And i hard wired it in to the convertable harness of my car. so when i turned on my ignition it turned it self on. Worked great in my New Edge. Have not mounted it in my S197, yet.

Hardwire mounts go right by the mirror, below or to the left/right of the dotted tint that has a logo of a mustang on it.
If your just using the cord, put the suction cups about 7 inches from the bottem of the glass in the center of your vehicle.
-You pick up radar signals faster the higher up the radar is to the top of your car
- You pick up laser signals ( in front of you) the best the lower it is on the windshield (closer to headlights etc)
The spot i talked about is what i chose because it puts the radar high enough that the Rearward radar can go through my back windshield, and isnt hitting my seat, low enough to have a good chance at picking up laser signals, and low enough to not look retarded by having a cord hanging 2 feet up my window.

Where Windshield Meets Dash
-make sure the radar is level with the horizion, if its pointing down or up you reduce the effective range of it,
-make sure you clean the window before you mount it
-make sure the radar is high enough that the small tinted glass looking thing that checks your 6 o clock will point straight out of ur back window and not into your seatif you drew a line straight from the top of the radar
Hope this Helps
