Sorry to hear about your mishap Joolander. You are correct that the Police will do nothing about accidents happening on private property. Even shopping malls are considered private property and the police will do nothing unless someone is in danger.
My daughter's 2006 Focus was hit by an idiot in a shopping mall. She called the police and they said it was on private property and to inform the insurance company. It's ashamed that it's that way.

Sorry to hear about your bumper. about the law forget it even if you try to sue him it will cost you to much time and effort then you have the burden of proof that he did it.Only if you had a wittness, someone wanthelp out.

 

what the ****? in the mall parking lot some lady backed up to me and broke my headlight on my 95 lesabre. her bumper got a nice scratch on it. she said we should just fix our own cars but i was like **** that.

filed an accident report at the police station the day after. got my way!

500$ is what the dealership quoted me for new headlights, which is what i got in cash.
then i bought the same headlight from a private business for about 200 bucks.

IMO you have enough to take him to small claims court. Its somthing like a $20 fee and you can ask for it along with your quote. Bring your quote to work as well. Trust me and call him into court. My brother had a stubborn *** who hit him and didnt want to pay. He took him to court, and the guy brought a check with him and settled before even seeing the judge. Sometimes just getting him there with a pic in your hand, and most importatly, him knowing he did it, may make him just pay you. Its worth a shot, and worst case your out 2 hrs of life and $20. Worth it for a Giant chance of saving $400 and Serving him a proper "Owned". If you do somthing to him, your his prime suspect, and you will probably get screwed. IMO take my advice and sue em. If you dont want to, (and I dont reccommend you do this) then the only way to get em back is to wait patiently, even months, so you dont come to mind when the police ask em if theres anyone upset with him that would do this. Also, for the record, Dmg happening to someone you dont like the day you move out is viewed as more then a coincidence. sp?

 

man, if you got pictures of that bumper, please tell me you took pictures of his entire car with his license plate.

that way you have true evidence when going to a lawyer, etc. that douche hit you though.

yeah, I also have pics of his liscense plate, his car's orientation next to mine after the fact (with his liscense plate in full view), and even one of his parking sticker. i know exactly which apartment and room he lives in as well
