I've bought and traded many cars and have only a few ask if the car was ever in an accident. I would say if they don't ask I wouldn't tell them, but I wouldn't lie if asked.

The Chrysler dealer didn't asked if my wifes pt cruiser had been wrecked. Hell they didn't even see the crappy paint job I did on the roof and rear door(roof was kayak damage and big chip in rear door from rock). I got $4k for the piece-o-crap and they got rid of a 2007 left over. I think we both won.

The last 5 cars I've puchased the dealer always inquired if the vehicle was damaged more than 25% of it value. Then the paper work have a disclaimer sheet stating there was no major damage to the vehicle being traded in and one signed by the dealer for the one I was buying. I believe in NC and VA it's law in both states and most likely in others.

Not to be a dick but...Your car is the equivalent of selling a piece of china that was broken, then super glued back together to hold water and now you want your money out of it. Thank god for the internet and carfax...

^^^ Sorry but I disagree with that one. If taken to a very reputible shop most places can't even find the original damage area once finished. That is why Ford sells every part made on these cars. They can easily be sectioned out and repaired. I buy wrecked cars and rebuild them and never have had any problems. I have sold several of them and the buyers were well aware that the car had an accident history and I have hadno problems selling them. If you know anything about cars you can tell a bad repair from an excellent one.
Regarding the dealers, I don't know where you live but I have never ever had a dealer pull a carfax on my trade-ins. They barely even look at them. They take a quick walk around and test drive around the block and that is it.
