Default dumb exhaust question

If I wanted my car to sound louder... would all I need to get is an O/R H pipe & a set of axle backs?

depends on how loud you want it. If you want superloud then get a set of straight through pipes (SLP and Boomtubes) or Race style like Bassani SS Race or Corsas. You could put a chambered muffler on there and it will be louder but not too loud or just leave the factory axlebacks with an O/R midpipe.

Look through youtube there are many example of different set ups

Oh where to begin......first there are three main parts to our exhausts. 1)mufflers (axlebacks)....no performance gains. Volume/sound varies by style/company......very timid/almost stock is the Flows/magnaflow to the louder which is Mac/Bassani race, ect. (I dont really count SLP as an axleback since all it is is an overpriced/glorified muffler delete) 2)Midpipe.......X-more raspy, H-deeper/more muscle car like, and Prochamber-like an H but with a "box" welded in(more refined H.....most expensive but well worth it IMO) 3) Headers. LT-long tube and shorty. People say LT's give you much more bang for your buck. Will make the exhaust deeper and louder......it all depends on your price range. Im a huge fan of Mac so I'm biasedbut I would go with a full mac setup.....Mac axlebacks/O/R prochamber/and LT's.......sounds very mean and has that signiture "mustang" sound.....my.02

Heres a video of my setup. SLP LM's and O/R H pipe, stock headers... WAKE THE mother #$%ING DEAD!!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=RKbHj-AEHwg I actually took it off b/c I thought I was trading the car in, but that fell through.. Anyway ENJOY!!

p.s. I wanted my car to sound like NASCAR, and this definitely did the trick!

Oh and by the way I had the flows, I had the Macs, I had NO mufflers and that all was hardly noticiable untill you rip those kitties off!!!! Any muffler makes a very little difference (sound wise) its all in those converters serisouly! With no cats you will a gain a little HP but be prepared give up a little bottom end torque!
