Drove my neighbor/friend's 05 GT Automatic. It's good for cruising a 300 mile trip if you're tired. Still have more fun in the manual and I feel more in control of the car.

So the consensus here is that with two good drivers, a stock auto will outrun a stock manual in the 1/4? Just want to be sure.
Even better, my "stock" automatic convertible GT will beat them all in the quarter mile. The vert is faster...and as they say..you can look that fact up!
That statement is going to need some explanation!

We don't have enough wheel spin to take away from a 1/4 mile time, so weight distribution is nominal in our autos. I think you got an engine in the vert that is 5-6 HP more than the Coupe. No 2 engines are created equal and all put out different HP numbers on a dyno.

The convertibles are heavierthan coupes, aren't they?
A stock, automatic vert is the heaviest of all the 3 combos.
Or did you just chop the top off a stock coupe?
You'd be correct. The GT Vert weighs in the heaviest. Hiwever, apparently the wieght is right over the rear axle. Just where you want it to be. I myself was amazed when I looked over the "stock" elapsed times and found the rag top GT automatic the fastest from the factory doors. How sweet it is!
