Just got the may issue of MM&FF and lo and behold there on the cover is a new roush 427R w/ auto tranny! seems roush is now offering the stage 3 427Rwith the 5r55s due to customer demand. it now pushes 435 hp /400 ft lbs tq with only 5 lbs of boost! MM&FF ran a best of 12.20 et at 109mph ( GT500 territory i believeW/less hp ) not too shabby for an autoIt seems roush is the 1st ever to offer the 5r55s behind a factory S/C S197 ! wouldnt youlove tohave someone walkup &say "oh its an automatic" and then letblow theyre doors off& watch the stupid look on theyre face? ..lol Anyway just thought id share...Kudos to roush for answering the call

 

In the quarter mile an auto will usually be faster anyway. Especially compared to the stock, lunky manual shifter.

I HATE AUTO's...LOL j/k and at the track I would bet on an auto over a manual with the same mods!!!!!!!!! I have the magazine in hand and think the GT500 can do better in the 1/4 mile than 12.2?!!!![&:] I would hope so at either price point for these cars....so damn expensive!!!! J

 

I love my manual, but I'd take a 3500 stall, 4.10 geared auto in a heartbeat.

GT500's have a best time of 12.2 @118. It would still trap way higher then that auto Roush....

 

The new issue of Hot Rod tested the same car and got a 13.20 1/4 mile!?

 

Autos/Manuals no problems as long as I get to drive my stang....

 

All depends on whereHot Roddoes their testing! MM&FFdoes all theirs at englishtown n.j..here were at sea level better for best performance times IMO
