I can confirm the '08s have a longer thread on both the spark plugs and, of course, the cylinder head. This gets rid of that dead space between the 05-07 plug's thread and the spark end. No where for crud to build up.
Of course, add it up between 8 plugs, and that means 08 owners might be missing 1-2 cubic inches of engine space. So they have 279s instead of 281s, but hey, I'll shutup with that part now. We don't need controversy.

displacement is the change in volume not the total volume
a change in cylinder diameter or stroke would add or remove displacement but a cylinder head change doesn't
