I use a hose on mine with the nozzle on the spray setting, then use the leaf blower to dry it off.

So do I. To the folks with concerns about water, don't be. The owner's manual says you can do it if you cover vital areas. This thing won't melt/

Oh my god... DO NOT...I repeat again for you guys who said it....DO NOT hose down your engine.

Yeah, you drive in the rain, but do you drive without a hood or with a huge *** opening in the front? No. Hosing your engine down is just dumb, no offense guys.

Do yourself a favor and spend an extra ten minutes doing it the right way. Go to the store and buy Armor-All Cleaning Wipes for cars. Then use the wipes to wipe away the grim and dirt. When I want to clean my engine bay, I just use those. Fifteen minutes and it looks new from the factory.

You COULD use water, but not from the hose. You would need a spray bottle that has a precise shooter. Hose is too powerful and too open to use on an engine.

Anyways, that's my advice. GL.
If you do it right and cover everything that needs to be covered you CAN use a garden hose. but it needs to be done right. wow this guy^^

miloman do you dilute the simple green?
Sure don't. Just spray, soak, let dry, pressure wash off. That's on a dirt bike though, it get beat up and crashed all the time. I really don't think it would hurt the engine compartment.......just cover the important stuff (alternator, air filter, battery, fuse box). Simple is also biodegradable, washing it down the driveway isn't going to hurt anything.

Ionly hand wipe and spray with detailer. No water. Been know to use a toothbrush and Q-tips. I don't srpay with water because I don't want to clean up water spots.

I understand some peoples' concerns about unleashing a pressure washer on something as intricate-looking as an engine. "Look at all the **** that I could mess up" comes to mind. I actually cleaned the car (and engine bay) today. Covered the air filter and battery and had no problems.

Ok some of you guys have rediculously clean engine bays and I applaud you. Next, did some of you guys paint your valve covers or did they come painted from the factory? I've never seen so many painted so I'd figure I'd ask. Thanks
