Default NEW Granatelli Thread

Hey all:

Reviving and old subject. I've always thought the Granatelli polished is a great looking piece. One of the best.

For the owners of the GMS CAI...Due to warranty concerns in my area I chose to order the Granatelli because of the re-calibrated MAI it has, and I can do a quick switch with no computer mods if needed. Plus it looks GREAT.

Does this CAI really give the performance Granatelli says (25hp/24trq)? It looks great and high quality. But, am I really going to notice a difference with this unit (driving wise/seat of the pants)and no tune, even though it has a "re-calibrated" MAI.

All answers are appreciated..........

Thanks,

The granitelli is an interesting piece... People will give you different opinions on it. The reviews I've read said people felt a power gain.

But.... A tune tends to be needed just to compensate more fuel for the additional air. I dont see how a different recalibrated MAF would quite do that. Anyways, its a cool piece.

Definately don't expect 25hp out of it. The reason tunes are so popular is they do much more than tune intakes, they retune the whole computer for many things not related to the intake. A good dyno tune may net you 25hp, but not most tunes, and definately not a CAI alone.

I doubt that it gives25 rwhp, but I could tell a difference after it was installed. The only complaint I have is that I had to switch to 89 octaine from 87 because it started to lean out in the higher RPM range.

I noticed a big improvement right away after I installed mine. However, I did eventually get a tune with the Granatelli CAI and felt even more improvement. I can't say whether its better or worse than any other CAI but I'm happy with mine.
