Im waiting for my cdc spoiler to get here and I looked up the tracking numbers and it says package weight is 40 lbs. I know the packing material has some weight but that spoiler has some weight to it.

perhaps a typo? no way that package should even come close to 40 lbs.

I'm sure that's what the carrier is charging only due to the SIZE of the box and not the weight.

Thanks, I figured it was something like that. I just didnt want to add a bunch of weight to the car.

Yes. Jersey Stang is correct. Its called DIM weight. Its dimensional weight which is calculated by an equation of the (length x width x height)/194. This gives you the weight the packaged will be charged at. Hope that helps you understand this.
