Default Please Help, Please

Hey all,

Took the 06 GT in for service, thought I had a loose bracket or something. Only a rattle at low RPM's and never heard above 1st gear. Mainly an at idle rattle, or slow movement.

Turns out I took a "strike" (I think I know when[:@]), but my Right side Catalytic is toast. My car will run, drive, but will eventually kill (plug) the exhaust according to Service.

Ford Service told me the Cat replacement alone was $1900, with labor an all probably $2200+.

HELP. I was not going to mod my car until year 3, but it seems after-market is my option?

Is the Ford price right? If so, why so high? What are my options other than that? I saw Hi-flow Cats with x-pipe for 500 on a brief search. I am 50/50 on warranty now. Service told me that it would be warranted if replaced by OEM or better part?

I thank this site/forums for all the help I have found, but I don't have time to search out all the threads, as I need to make a decision soon.

Please help with suggestions and ideas. Sadly, I don't know much about this issue, so ANY HELP is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick.

HIFLO CATS cost around $200 and it's a simple cut and replace job....stealership at it again.

i know cats are expensive.....but thats completely rediculous. just get an aftermarket exhaust, love your car even more, and be done with it

its a win win situation. new aggressive sound thats cheaper than stock!

The list price on the cat is 1,732.13....so the dealer is not terribly out of line, but you can get cheaper by going aftermarket for sure

thanks, this is what i need to hear.

I knew the Service was bs'n because I have 3 cats on my car.

When I said, well, after the headers, the Cat drops on each side, where is the third Cat? Service told me the third is where in front of the crossover?

I don't want this to be a "this exhaust, that exhaust" thread, but a help to me.

What kind of cost am I looking at doing the whole exhaust with hi-flow cats, x-pipe, and exhaust? General is fine.

Anybody have 3 cats on there stang?

my complete exhaust system was about $1000. and thats pretty cheap, w/ cats will be about 100 more. depends on the brand the whole exhaust will be 1000-1700.
if you leave out the headers you are looking at 1000 or less.
i would definately go w/ after market.
this may be a blessing in disguise, now you can get a better exhaust.

Thanks everyone for replying. I know so very little on this.

I am having a hard time finding Cats online. What are good brands?

I do think this is a blessing, but I want to make a good choice.

I also don't want to go the exhaust shop tomorrow and get raped by not being informed.

Also, I can do the complete exhaust w/o a CAI and tune? I am going to max my card out on this repair (FIRST MOD).

thanks so much.

you are not going to just replace the 1 cat, you are buying a entire replacement midpipe with 2 cats.
