Starter fluid works great, but I wouldn't use it on the paint.

Paint thinner. Followed by glaze after you're done.
Hair dryer and plastic squeegee.

Try those.

Rubbing alcohol can work. I've also used windex to remove sticker residue when removing a decal from my windshield. I don't know how well windex will work on paint, though, since I typically use a razor blade on my windshield with the windex.

If you use glass cleaner, then spray it on and wait a few seconds. That helps it soak into what's left of the sticker.

Don't forget to wash and wax the area after you remove the decal!
