RE: 2008 MUSTANG HID
Factory bulbs are designed to be 4300 because that is the best temperature for HIDs. This temp provides one of the best light outputs of all temps and I am pretty sure no factory bulb will be over 4300k for any manufacturer. Thus, the only way you would be able to get a D3R bulb with over 4300 is search on the internet. Due to the fact that the D3R/S bulbs are relatively new and the only company I see using them is ford, it is unlikely you will find one right now.
Oh ya, and 4300K is WHITE. It is about as white as it gets, but what you want (if you want 6000K) is white/blue and that color you think is white, is actually the blue.

Being a graphic designer I know far to much about color and temps.
4300K is about the same as a soft white light bulb, it is ever so lightly on the warm side of the spectrum.
5000K is the standard for mid-day sunlight anything over this will turn the cool side quite quickly, even 5000k has a very little hint of blue but this is what I'd consider to be a good base for a very white white.
6000K will look blueish and anything over that will just be blue or purple if you go to 8000k+ and will be horrible for driving.
While the stock 4300K is a little warm they do that because it cuts though the rain better, although I think a 4800K bulb would be perfect for that true white look.

The Audi S5 has the new D3S. I think the D3S have a higher color temp. I installed a D1S from an Audi A4 in the Ford headlight and that looked yellow compared to the Ford D3R.

If you were to change the bulb I would go with the D2R/D2S b/c that is the most common bulb there is and you should be able to find one with a higher temp.

btw is d3r and d2s/r are all different right?
right now the only opt i have is just take out the factory kit. go buy some aftermarket hid and headlamp. and just redo the whole thing. but i really dont want to do that. wasted 500$ on the HID. and i only have it for a month.

the d3/d2 are different. They have different securing clips for the bulbs and different ballast. If you have to change to a new system the best way would be to purchase a d1r/s system.
You will need new bulbs, ballast cable that can be purchased for $200.
