Default Question about changing tunes

I have a 2008 Mustang GT/CS and I installed a Bamachips 87 performance tune using a SCT X3 tuner. When I installed it the tuner downloaded the factory program then uploaded the custom tune.

Today I finally ran out the 87 fuel and filled up on 93 octane. I was changing the tune at the gas station and went to install custom tune and on the tuner it said downloading. After that it was done. it never uploaded anything. I can't feel a difference between the 87 tune and the 93 tune. Did I not install it right?

Do I have to go back to stock then change to the 93 race tune? My tuner didn't come with instructions. Could someone tell me the steps to change from one custom tune to another?

Just wanna make sure I do it correctly.

Thanks.

You do not need to go back to the stock tune, then to the custom tune. You can go from one custom to the other. When you downloaded the 93 tune, did you see the tuner count thru the % complete on the screen? You should be able to feel a noticable difference between the 87 and 93 tunes. If no, try re-loading the 93 tune.

Plug in the tuner. As soon as it comes on and says SCT the next screen should say Status "Locked-93 Race" or something like that.
At any rate if you watch right after you plug it in it should tell you which tune is loaded.

I notice little difference between the tunes unless I get on it.

Well I installed it again and it was the same way. The first time I installed the custom tune it downloaded my factory program (took about 2 minutes) then it uploaded the 87 tune (took about 1 minute)

When I changed from 87 to 93 tune, it only downloaded (took about 1 minute) but didn't upload anything. It counted through to 100% complete and thats it. When going from one custom tune to another, does it not have to download the custom tune thats already in the car before it uploads the new tune? Like I said, the first time I installed the 87 tune it went from 0 to 100% when removing my stock program then went from 0 to 100% again when uploading the 87 tune. But when I go from 87 tune to 93 tune it just goes from 0 to 100% once and its done. Is this how its suppose to be? I figured it would remove the 87 tune then install the 93 tune.

As far as performance, I can't tell a difference in the 87 performance and the 93 race tunes. I heard everyone saying it was like night and day and how it'll chirp tires from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd but it wasn't like that and I layed the pedal down. Maybe I was just expecting too much from what I've read but I was kinda disappointed. Either that or I'm just not installing it correctly.

Default RE: Question about changing tunes

I went thru this a few weeks ago when I upgraded to Bama's 93 Race tune. I went from the 91 torque and race tunes which both gave me 2-3 tire chirps and firm shifts to installing the 93 Race tune, only to go out, road test the car to the shifting to be lighter than the stock tune. It even short shifted from 3-4 and didn't pull good at all. I went home, downloaded my 91 race tune, road tested, car felt good again. I emailed Doug at Bamachips and it took a few days but he revised the 93 Race tune for my car. Immediately I found out what some people on here were talking about when they mentioned how hard the trans shifted just in low mph driving. Now when I accelerate it chirps 2-3 and 3-4 with no problem and accelerates its *** off. It still will only lay about 2 feet of rubber from a dead stop though!

Email Doug and let him know the tune is weak, he may take a few days but he will make it right for you!

Thanks Atlanta_Tider, I'll send Doug an e-mail and see if he can beef it up a little more.

I'm still unsure if its installing correctly. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can someone tell me if its suppose to remove one tune before it loads another tune like it did when I first changed from the stock program to the custom tune?
