Default Stroker kits

I heard a rumor that the 2010 stangs will have a 5.0 option, and that it would basically be our 4.6 but stroked out

I'm sure we all know the advantages of a stroker kit, what i would like to know is what are the disadvantages? I realize a custom tune would be a must

Increased stroke makes the piston travel further up and down. Since the amount of time allowed for this movement is not increased, the piston speed increases with a stroked crank (piston must move a further distance in the same amount of time). This can sometimes cause pistons to wear more quickly.
Large increases in stroke can decrease an engine's ability to perform optimally at high rpm. Engines used at sustained high rpm usually will be better with less stroke and more bore.

^+1
This is THE biggest disadvantage with a stroker motor.

So what kind of power can we figure with a 5.0 stroker?

All true, but pay attention to the word "can" when the topic of operating at high RPM.This depends on the rod to stroke ratio, and the level ofthese supposed high RPM's.

As it relates to the 4.6....a 3.75 stroker crank will not create any tangible disadvantage to the standard 4.6while operating in the upper RPM range. The 3.75 crank and .020 over bore will provide the 302c.i. This is the combo I am running and my car revs to 7,000 rpm without a problem.I have heard that the 3.80 crank is a tad on the long side for a desireable rod / stroke ratio.

The Saleen uses the 3.80 crank and no over bore.

I think the 5.0 Cammer for exemple,is bored, not stroked.
So there is different ways to get there.
