ORIGINAL: marcuskeeler

So let's get this straight.
The car runs aftera jump, meaning the alternator is charging.
You had it tested and the shop said the battery was dead, but you don't trust them (why go there then?).

What was it you wanted from us again?

+1

.. but bc you drive a mustang i feel for you..

heres what i have to say.. mine has just started giving me trouble too.. except only in the mornings and i dont hear a damn thign when i turn the key.. (you are atleast hearing you starter turn).. so right away.. im telling you its WAYYYY too early for you alternator to go bad, (should last a good 7-9 years) and starter is about 4-5.. sometimes up to 7.. but i think my problem is the solenoid..

batteries last 2-3 years average.. its just how it works.. i replace batteries time to time that are only months old.. sounds liek you have a bad cell.. just dish out the $$ and pay for a new battery.. you will notice there will be no problems after that.. (ps.. we at the "parts stores" dont always lie.. tell the guy to show you the screen where it says BAD!.. or good.. and then ask him what the CCA were and what they should be..)..

hope this helps

Parts stores sometimes use the same tools shops do when testing batteries. If your not sure of their 'free diagnosis", swing by a shop and see if they will check it for you. They may or may not charge you for it.

But more than likely, its the battery. ALL parts have the possibility of failing before they "should". I've had parts bad right out of the box. So just chalk it up as part of vehicle ownership.
