Complete Frustration At The Track!!!!!!
ORIGINAL: Going for broke
one other thing as well... A dragstrip is different then the street in two ways.
1. it's stickier but once you break loose you break loose good. Be smooth and try to match revs when shifting esp. with the tires you have on a well prepped track you can get by with being more agressive but if the track won't hold what your trhowing at it then you need to smooth out and back it down a notch. smoother is always faster.
2. on the street it's cool and sounds good to really crack it into second gear to get a nice long squeal out of the tires. On the drag strip if your not careful you can get out of the groove and it can put you into the wall. once again smooth shifting..
I'd like to see you hit the track one more time with yourcurrent set-up to see if anyof the advice we're all dishing out will help you any.

Im hoping, if all goes as planned, that I get dyno'd Sat and to the track Sunday (lady's night, we are free lol). I have hear that before, not being as aggressive and I think I do want to try that too. Its funny you mention street verses track. On the way home I had fun with my son's buddy; he has an automatic WS6 with all kinds of mods. We get down to about 50mph, Im in 4th, we are side by side, I drop down to 3rd and nailed it. By the time I hit 120mph, he was just starting to catch up!!! ROF!! I did feel better about my girl then but I dont like to street race like that so it kind of defeats the purpose. I know she's got the power, just need to master how to get it out of her!! Thanks for all the great feed back!!!! Im taking it all with me next go round!!!!

whtcanbrwnd04u Im about 25 minutes west of Fort Worth so Ennis is a long haul for me. Kennedale is the closest track but it is 1/8. Does Ennis have a test and tune or street war type weekends? We have been talking about trying out the stangs (me and my son) at Ennis but just cant seem to make the long drive happen with our schedules.
28HopUp how much you pay for your Racemasters?
PLstang lol, ok I feel better!!!Dont laugh at me when I tell you I didnt stage up my rpms, just went from a dead stop. Having not run with the 4.10s I was a little nervous about staging up my rpms and really wasnt sure where I needed to be. There were so many cars last night, I only got in two runs so I could play with the rpms at all. What are your rpms at launch? Yes, Im running stock LCAs.

No, I was running at Kennedale (Fort Worth).
We are in between ft.worth and dallas, southlake. I don't like 1/8 miles so im not even going to bother Kennedale. Ennis is abour 45 mins drive for us. Its well worth it, and yes, its test and tune. They have it like every 2-3 weeks on fridays. Racing is 7-12. $15 to race, $10 to watch.
stowes how was the track prepped? I went to a local 1/8th not too log ago and I was getting wheel hop like crazy with my MT ET streets. The track is still getting up and running so the timing wasnt working. But it was hard to feather the clutch and keep no spin even with the Mickey T's.
You were only finishing in 3rd gear? I was chirping 4th at the very end of the track lol.
Youve probably seen the vids on my myspace

I'm in Houston. But I have a shop in Dallas. We have trucks running back and forth all the time I could throw them on. PM me if you want them.
Next time your at the track try this. Launch like your trying to get across a busy intersection. Not real hard just quick and controled. Once you start moving and you know your hooked drop it to the wood! Don't worry about the light or the other car. Just try to get the launch down. Worry about the other stuff later.
You may also want to get a shift light like the raptor. Might help you with your shifting if your not worry about as many things. Just shift on the light. Just a thought.

Hey Brandon......the track is awesome since they resurfaced it!!!!! Like day and night. Now you can really hook. Oh Im chirping in 4th too, what I was saying was that it was pretty much over by the time I got to 3rd because I messed up 1st and 2nd so bad, it was pointless to work any harder with 3rd and 4th lol
What track is local for you? What are you asking for your MTs?? That is what I was looking at, some street slicks, damm, another $400 plus!!! lol
PLstang cool, cool, Ill add that to my list of props
Ill send you a PM.

StoweStang,
I looked at your MODS and it seems like you were on the right track but are lacking in some very key areas. I'm sure you have heard the phrase, "All the power in the world is useless unless you can put it to the ground."
Your traction issues can be solved very easily with some minor suspension mods (do it yourself). Obviously everyone has already told you about tires. These are a must. Find some cheap 17's (not 18's) and by some MT ET streets and you're good there.
Since you are lowered you will need to put some LCA relocate brackects on to reposition your LCA's. When you lowered your car it changed the angle your LCAs were at, which causes them to force the energy that is supposed to be pushing down on your tire to give it more bite, to actually push them the other way, up. The relocate brackets will put the LCAs back at the angle they are supposed to be at. Do a search on BMR relocate brackets or Anti-Squat brackets and learn some more.
Shocks. Although your car may ride awesome and you may not notice the difference, stock shocks are not designed to travel in the range yours are currently in. They will function properly for a while and they slowly will start to give the "porpusing" (spelling), the ride will get real bouncy. The front will start diving and the back will start bottoming out. A set of shocks, Tokico D-Specs or the Koni's is what most here seem to prefer. They also significantly improve the ride. You can adjust the shocks, all four, in less then 2 minutes. You can firm them up, soften them up, make it ride howyou feel. I have the D-Specs and can adjust them to lower my 60' where it should be. I'm sure others like the Koni but I have no first hand experience with them.
The most important thing about drag racing is experience! I ran mid 13's with more mods than you and a 75 shot of nitrousuntil I got my suspension dialed in with some DR's. Then I would consistantly get 12.60s at 110-111 and occasionally a 12.40. The car was the same for 20+ runs, I just needed some help in getting it to run what it could. I am now in the same boat again. With my new set up I'm trapping 116 with a worst ET. I can't get my launch down. Anyway, good luck.

Thanks Simon, great information!!!!!!! And yes, Im very, very familiar with that phrase!! lol That is certainly the hole Im in now! I will do my research and check out the LCA bracketsand shocks. I guess there is no such thing as bolt on and go!!! lol
