First Impressions rebuilt 5r55
Transmission rebuilt by Larry's Transmission
I had the chance to drive the mustang with the new tune from ST Motorsports.
The difference between the stock transmission and brenspeeds tune is 100% different. It could be the 3000 stall torque converter.
You can feel the torque converter locking and unlocking which I never felt before but the biggest difference is going WOT.
On brenspeeds tune you tap the gas going 20 or going 60 it would hit hard throw you back in the seat burn the tires and you’re off.
With the new tune plus 3000 stall torque converter, it feels like you’re in a jet airplane. The supercharger whine and exhaust sounds totally different too. It doesn't throw you against the seat in every gearbut it gradually gains momentum (pretty fast) until you’re flying. If you go WOT there is a tiny lag from the torque converter but a blink of an eye later your at9 1/2 pounds. So if you’re cruising and shifting lanes you’re not going to jerk the car unless you press the pedal all the way down. (Safer in my opinion)
Bothtunes got me 9 1/2 psi of boost but ST's tune you hardly feel the gears shift you’re already flying. (Could be thetorque converter)Brenspeeds tune would burn through first and second andpound third then you’re flying. The boost seems a lot more stable now.
I am 100% happy with the new way the car drives. I didn't pound the car yet since I have to put 250 - 300 miles on it first. During testing the front of the car actually lifting up my fiancé with me was laughing so hard she loved it ((which was odd since she always complained when I go WOT))
The brenspeed tune did feel faster but that probably has to do with how hard the gears shifted.
I'm not knocking brenspeeds tune as it was a lot of fun I just prefer the way ST motorsports tune runs.
