I just ordered a 2005/2006 Mustang GT on 4/17/2005. My options are: Premium package, Shaker 1000, Interior Upgrade Package, Side Mounted Airbags, and Alarm system. The car is Black on Black. The dealer told me 4-6 months, and of course I am willing to wait for what I want. They were not sure if it was going to come as a 2005 or a 2006. So how long does everyone think it will take? I think they might have given me a long wait time to try and hoax me into buying a 6er(was'nt gonna happen). Anyway, so I want to hear what the legidement deal is.

This is to all of you guys waiting and waiting....

Here is what I did... I waited. They told me 8-12 weeks. After 8 weeks no build date or serial number. I ordered mine in January.

Come March 5th I said screw it and started making phone calls. I called about 40-50 dealers a day and eventually found exactly what I ordered. I found it on March 15th and picked it up March 17th. I was willing to give up a few options if I had to. But I didn't have to.

My advice is get on the horn and start calling dealers. I was willing to fly anywhere in the country for mine but I only had to go about 800 miles away.

Oh... and I paid MSRP, without a dealer markup. ((Rip off I call it))

If you do this you may need to pay 1/2 the tax ((in cash)) to your state and 1/2 the tax to the state where you purchased the vehicle. This was my case. I was going to put down $10k but put a little less down payment on the financed portion to cover the tax I had to pay my state is all.

Good luck... and if you need advice on how to find one let me know.. I learned a few tricks finding mine.

I did basically the same thing (except I e-mailed about 50 dealers in SoCal). None had anything with the minimum specs I wanted (Sonic Blue, charcoal leather, IUP and auto trans). Eventually, one dealer checked an inventory database for the entire western US, and he found one lonely car that met my specs... in Hawaii!!! Kinda tough to drive that one back to San Diego! Anyway, about a day later, I got a build date (4/4) and I decided to hang in there. It was due to arrive at the dealer today (4/22). Unfortunately... it didn't... so my wait goes on for a day or two or a few more. [sm=boosign.gif]

31 Dec ??? omg.. and not even a build date? I ordered mine on the 24th of dec and got it on march 2. I would get my deposit back and go to another place.. I think they jerked you around enough.. time to go shopping
I just heard today that my car has been "Serialized and is awaiting a schedule date, and ETA." I posted this in another thread, and was told that it has been built, and just has to be shipped, so hopefully I will have it in a month or so.

If it takes more than 6 - 8 weeks, it means your dealership doesn't have enough volume to get your order allocated. Here we are turning sold orders in 6-7 weeks, and we get new allocation every week.

When Ford selects an order for production it assigns a serial number. It usually assigns a build date (always a monday for the week of) at the same time, but sometimes we don't get the production date until the following week. But once you have a vin, you'll get a car!

Once the car is built, you should have it in a couple of weeks, Max.

Not true... shipping is slower than normal these days. Mine has been built for 3 weeks now; still don't have it. Maybe somebody carjacked the hauler...

I had a customer order one on 3/9 that was given a 4/4 production date and 4/21 delivery date. It came in on 4/18 and I'm in North Carolina, so yours should be there any day.

Yea, I know. But, the waiting is killing me. Each day now seems longer than the day before. Today will be 33 hours long, tomorrow 34 hours, etc...

Maybe I should just go to sleep until it gets here... time will pass faster that way.
