Playing rough with my toy, I broke something

RE: Playing rough with my toy, I broke something
Sorry about the misfortune (or good fortune) Brice.
Don't forget, patience is the mother of all wisdoms...
I would get the 6 spd (from a Termi, possibly?) with maybe, an aluminum flywheel since you race that car a lot. Take that monkey off your back now.
A well built 5 spd will cost about the same than a 6 I'm affraid.
I have a friend that owns Mr. Transmission in Altamonte. Tomorrow,I will check on prices for you and what is the way to go as far as 6 speed.I should get decent prices with him also.
Good luck budd.

from what car can you get that tranny?
ORIGINAL: AmericanSpeed
trust me bro, I've been searching hard core for the 6060. I havent seen any under 2900, so I'm deciding if its worth holding off on the whipple for longer. That was the first idea I had, I'd love that 6-spd!! HMM, 5spd and whipple, or 6060 6spd and patience.... damn, I've never been patient.

hey bro if your really looking to upgrade her why not just go for the big bang and get a TR6060... a 6 speed solid tranny is what you need if you can blow the stock GT one lol

Its an updated T-56. Last I heard the Viper was still running the T-56.

Well, all the runs at the track, all the powershifting, it finally caught up to me. After the track tonight, on my last run I could not get her in third. Something finally broke. When I am driving normally now, no matter how much I push in the clutch and how slow I am going, putting it in third, the gear grinds like crazy. It is only happening when I go into third.
Diagnosis anyone? Synchro? Remedy?
Thanks

3rd gear synchro most likely. Its the known weak spot in the TR-3650.
If you do go to a GT500 TR-6060 I would go to a GT500 Dual Disc Clutch set-up at the same time.
Any really good single disc with these cars just about demands switching to an Aftermarket Hydraulic Throwout Bearing as the factory Slave Cylinder cant handle the extra load. So far the GT500 Dual Disc seems to be the best option when you are switching to a trans with the beefier input shaft.

RE: Playing rough with my toy, I broke something
thanks a lot for all the advice and help guys. Cheapest TR-6060 6spd I've seen so far is $2900. Anyone know where it can be found for less?

I have seen complete Cobra T-56's new for $1995 but they have small input shafts I believe and Im not sure aboutany issues withshifters for the 05+ (GT500 TR-6060 parts may fit). I think $2900 is about the lowest you are going to find the TR-6060.
If you have a good local tranny guy you trust (ask around at the track) you might be able to drop the tranny and take it to him and get some upgrades along with a 26-Spline Input Shaft Upgrade which I would suggest for a Blower and Sticky Tires.
I dont know how adaptable the TKO is to the 2005+ cars but they are certainly available in for under $2000.
They also can be gotten with 0.64 OD to reduce cruising RPM or a close ratio trans with a 0.82 for Blown cars that need a taller first gear. They dont have a rep for being all that sweet shifting however.
