I just use LoJack and the auto lock on my clutch, good luck with this, it will take awhile to get the auto lock off short of a blow torch and then you'd have to cut the clutch pedal off if u can get to it. Hopefully by this time someone has noticed and called the cops, if not there's Lojack

Just curious for those in the know. How much does LowJack cost to install and how much per month/year is it for the monitoring? Also does it/can it work in conjunction with your factory installed car alarm? Meaning, I work for the airlines and have to go out of town for days on end. My mustang will be my daily driver and it will be in a semi secure area at the employee airport parking lot that has a security guard there that does patrols in a car. The lot is fully fenced in but has those gates that swing up on each end with a swipe of your ID card but you could easily walk around the gate and other people/crewmembers do that live near by to catch the shuttle bus to the airport. If my stock alarm goes off does that or could that be enabled to send the LowJack signal? If it doesnt it would be of no use to me since I am usually gone for 3 days at a time an if the car was stolen the day I left, in 3 days it could be in another country. Thanks in advance for the information.

There are two systems:

The Standard Recovery system that is $695 Retail
and
Early Warning System that alerts you when your vehicle has been moved. The System noifys you (via pager, email, Cellphone etc.)within 15 minutes of the movement and then I am not sure if you need to call the cops or if the system notifys them for you...this system is $995.

So I would assume it would notify you by cellphone no matter where you are.

Go to the site for a demo.... http://www.lojack.com/demos/early-warning.htm

I think I am leaning toward that one.....

Cheers!

I don't know if they all are, but around here the Ford dealerships are authorized LoJack dealers/installers. I got the standard system for $500 when I bought my car - I imagine the dealership you bought your Mustang from would install it for around that same amount.

There is no yearly fee - just the one time fee. There is no monitoring with the standard system. You call the police when your car is stolen. They use your VIN to activate the LoJack transmitter in your vehicle. They then have patrol cars and 'copters in some locations with lojack receivers that receive the signal from your car and can track it. I've heard of them retrieving cars in less than 20 minutes.

They do recommend having your transmitter inspected/replaced every few years.

If you're leaving your car at the airport you want to make it take as long as possible for the bad guys. Get an AutoLock, use the steering wheel cover to let them know you have it (it's hard to see). Get a good car alarm, spend at least $300. Get a good car cover! one with a locking cable. This will not only make it more time consuming for the thieves but if you're parking at the airport there is a lot of pollution that can settle on your car. Having LoJack with the active anti-theft notification may be going overboard but if you can afford it, do it. Your insurance will go down a bit. LoJack suggests you have their unit inspected every 2 years.
