I live in South Jersey and have 35% on all but the windshield, no problems so far.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe window tint is not a primary offense, it's a secondary, which means they can't pull you over for it.
You would have to be doing something else. I know, in reality, they will find a reason if they really want to.
Either way, get a ticket, remove it, no big deal.

I live in north jersey. I have 35%. Not pulled over once for tint. The guy that tints for my dealership said, he tints a lot for the state troopers, and asked what they allow. They all said , as long as they can see what is going on in the car, the wont say anything.

that's just it, though - the way i look at it, if i'm marginally speeding, i.e 40 in a 35, etc., and a cop sees me, i'll prolly get by ok; however, if he knows he's guaranteed a ticket b/c. of tint, i'm prolly more likely to get stopped. don't give em any more reason than they already have

Maybe they don't bother me because I'm 50 and couldn't possibly cause that much trouble
