My Drone Issue SOLVED!!!
As with a lot of Stang owners I had a DRONE problem. It was driving me crazy. Did double layer of Damlifier in trunk area & all floor of the Stang. NO help. Added a third layer in spare tire well NO help. I bought a gallon of Spectrum Sludge. A heavy layer in rear wheel wells a little help. then yesterday I had some 3:73s installed. The owner of my shop let me in the shop when the Tech. was putting in my gears. He dropped my JBA axel backs and I added a heavy layer above the muffler mount area and around the spare well area. Drove her home.....NO DRONE!!! A little bit at the 1900 rpm range but I can live with it. Can't give an accurate mph since my speedo needs recalibration. But like I said 1900rpm a little drone All other rpm ranges NO DRONE!! So the question is did the gear change or the Spectrum Sludge do it? My thought is both. Spectrum Sludge is from Second Skin Audio. It's pretty crappy to apply overhead even on a lift. Probably next to impossibe on jack stands. BUT my Stang has no more Dreaded Drone
I only get a littel drone if I'm in a high gear and need to go up hill at about 19ooRPM as well...But other wise very drone free. Jba's as well .... Maybe you were getting vibrations and after they were droped and reinstalled it helped. I'm sure the sludge had to help as well but with mine being realitively stock back there I tend to learn toward later.... JMO...
It's most likley the gears solved your drone issue. Exhaust drone only occurs at certain RPMs. I have MACs and the drone was TERRIBLE at cruising RPMs ubtil I installed My 4.10s, now, no more issues w/ drone!!!
