Well I raced at Pinks this past weekend and it was a lot of fun...there are close to 500 cars racing so we only got 1 test and tune run Friday and 2 runs Saturday for qualifying...There were so many trailored cars there, it was pretty crazy...I think I was the only S197 racing at the event...My times were terrible on the first run because I forgot to turn off my traction control [:@]and ran a 13.7@ 110mph,my 2nd run was better but I got absolutely no traction and ran a 13.2 @109 mph, my last run I finally heated up the tires enough and ran what I thought was probably a much better time, but it was a hand drop run and we didn't use the tree so we didn't get a time slip...I really didn't know these Nittos required such a long burnout to heat them up...all in all though it was a really fun experience and I thought I would share with you guys...
I have NittoDR's and as I explained I wasn't getting any traction until I was able to heat them up correctly, which didn't happen until the 3rd time running which wasn't timed because it was the run with the hand drop and not the tree...they weren't letting people stage very long at all...I just got away with it the last time and was able to heat them up enough to finally get traction...plus this was the first time I had even been to the track with this car...so it was all a learning experience...I expect much better times the next time out...I know the times sucked and should have been better, but those two runs were my first two runs at a drag strip in the last 4 years and with a completely different car and power level...I am not some experienced professional and I was only given 3 chances to get it right, when I finally did it wasn't even timed...oh well I had fun anyways watching all of the other cars...there were three cars that ran in the 7.7 second range! Oh and a GTO ran a 9.64! If he didn't have traction issues he would have run even faster, lol...there were actually lot of cars out that had traction issues...and several cars that ran slower than me making a lot more power...If you can't put the power to the ground, and all you are doing is spinning your tires, then your times aren't going to be good...
