Default door sub questions

i tried posting this question in the audio section, nobody was helpful. anyway, i heard rumors that you can replace that shaker 500 subs in the doors with aftermarket brands, im thinking it was rockford and pioneer. could be wrong tho. i have gathered that they are 8 ohm factory, and naturally 8". is this true, can i just buy 2 replacements and pop in or do i have to replace the factory amp? people here seem a little more friendly. thanks

they are not a typical sub at all, something like 3.6 oh dual voice coil. Honestly there isnt really anything on the market that is worth replace unless you also want to remodel your door and little since the space is for a very shallow sub only

I've seen someone put 8" Rockford Fostages in the door.

I've heard most of the 8" ultra slim subs fit without problems. I have no clue, though, what kind of specs the stock amps have, though. Just throwing a sub in there may blow the sub or amp.

ive got fosgates in mine....it wasnt really worth it in the end. you have to modify the enclosure to make them fit. The bass is much tighter almost like a midrange speaker really, its not boomy like the stockers are.

Yeah, unless you're doing a sub or two in the trunk, you're better off with the stockers. Upgrade your head unit if you want better sound.
