I got my K&N for $41 online. And that honeycomb thing is also called a Vapor Trap. Been runnin without it now for a few hundred miles and so far, no Check Engine light came on, and no other problems.

Are you asking if removing the vapor trap makes fuel mileage worse? I doubt it.
Personally, couldn't tell ya. Hell, I can't keep my foot out of it long enough to see what fuel mileage is!

To Daniel60, Ive used K&N air filters for years and think they're great. And like they say, it's the last filter you have to buy. Just clean, oil and reuse. They make a little cleaning kit for that for about $10. Good for many cleanings. And the filter is supposed to add a few horse in most cases through better air flow than that stock thing. It's an efficient filter too. Better than stock. And with a 10 year or one million mile guarantee to top it all off! It wouldnt take many changes of the stock filter to pay for a K&N alone! And lastly, there are many immatators out there now using the same design. Must be a good design. I just put one in the GT and Im not touchin it for at least 40,000 miles!

Ripping out that bugger is the first thing that MM&FF did when they did their 6-bolt on GT Mustang last month. All it does is keep fuel fumes from escaping from your intake just after you shut off your engine.

If I remember correctly from the article, the throttle by wire system in the '05 will try to compensate for any mods made to the car unless you reflash. Even with exhaust if I remember.
