Check this site out before you decide. http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm [Credit to the original poster] The tests were for a diesel and I dont know if that makes a difference. As far as Im concerned, Im stickin with the K&N until I see a reply from them. If they were that bad, I doubt they would be the top seller they are, and woulda been around as long as they have.

Maybe I explained it wrong, here's a picture of it. It's located in the part of the hose close to the air filter (I don't think it would hurt anything to remove it - I don't think gas could travel that far back)
Maybe I'm confused, but I don't see the vapor trap on mine. I took the entire hose off and looked in both ends, plus inside the air filter cover. Is it supposed to be in the part shown here (see pic) or am I looking in the wrong place?

Dear Don,

Ford probably forgot to add it to your air intake system...

Don....

You are looking in the exact place that it should be...I guess they just forgot to intall it during the build..

I sure hope our stearing column and brake system is in better shape than the intake system from the plant

Well you lucked out mate...One less mod you need to make!

C ya

Some folks in other forums (shhh...I read other forums) say that a K&N filter and ripping out the air restricter (air silencer?) is preferred over a CAI due to the CAI being metal and therefore heating up and robbing HP.
Not all CAI's are metal, C&L and Granatellis are, but others are plastic, and I seriously doubt the whole "heat sink" argument has any validity, metal and plastic are going to run the same temp under the hood during operation, its only after the car is shut down a metal intake will stay warmer longer, but who cares then? Either way my C & L kicks total *** over the stock crappy intake box.
