I'm pretty sure this is called the "hydrocarbon filter", and you may have to "retune", after a few miles, as it radically changes "air flow". YES, it's difficult to remove for good reason. It is EPA mandated, but for an extra 5HP, I don't think it's worth the time,.......... or future problems.
If you look back on threads about this, (18 months ago,) you will understand what I'm saying. PPL back then, thought it was a great idea, only to have it cause problems.

i needed a friend to help me out
detached the tube from the intake manifold, i had 2 sets of needle nose pliers trying to yank out the trap, my friend was holding on to the intake tubing haha
was like tug -of - war

I already told you, in my post. removing it changes the A/F ratio, resulitng in backfiring, and idle problems. If it's removed, it'll need tuned. See KtownGT's post on this page.

taking that out and droping in a K&N filter will be about equal to a CAI

to the guy on the first page that recomended the tornado, i really hope your not serious

I heard that removing this on the 06 turns on a light in the dash, something about air flow. I have no idea, I never messed with the inlet side of my car.

Just pulled my intake and no HCF,
My wife thinks I'm an outlaw, LOL

My wife has a 2006 Mustang GT. It was built the first week of August 2005. It did NOT have the "filter" installed at the factory.
