I have both the garmin Nuvi 660 and Mio. The garmin is alot nicer to look at, however i hate that with Garmin you cant avoid specific roads but with the MIO I can. I would get rid of the garmin but some how i got free traffic till 2046 so I am keeping it for now.
The mio is also more accurate, meaning if I take an exit that was not programmed the mio will pick it up quicker. This does not seem like a big deal, but if you exit on a road that runs parallel with the current road it will not notice till you start making a turn away. The mio picks up so much quicker, actually picks it up right away.

The field of view (angle at which you can see the screen) was great on the 550, and the nuvi was supposed to have the same screen technology wise. however the field of view is narrower; after reading up online it seems some cost cutting was involved.
I still like them a lot, and if they ever get the nuviphone out (http://www8.garmin.com/nuvifone/) I'd seriously consider it.

Those forums have a lot of folks that hack the GPSs & OEM support people.

Big fan of the Garmins. Zumo (had one, just sold it) is too $$ if you're not using it on a bike (don't need the
waterproofness or the M/C mount). I bought a 660 from Amazon the other week for somewhere in the $3xx range
and it's great. Any of the Garmin Nuvis in the $200 - $300 range are a good buy, mostly minor features (IMHO)
like bluetooth and text to speech.
