Default FRPP/Borla Stingers automatic

hey guys, I am sure this has been discussed before but I cant search and find it. I am very close to purchasing the frpp stingers for my '06 GT automatic. I have heard some people say in the past that the drone is terrible on the automatics because the rpm's are usually right around 2K.I dont mind a little drone, after all, the reason I am going to buy these things is to get a bit more of a throaty muscle car sound out of the stang, but I dont want it to be insanely annoying. I remmber one guy saying the stingers didnt last a day on his stang before he ripped them off. Being a college student I cant afford to be screwed on this $$ wise. I drive sometimes with overdrive off and understand that will help my dilema, but I dont want to be forced to always do so. I just wish there was a way for me to check it out in person so I dont have to throw away $500. So I figured I would do the next thing:

1. Has anyone here had or heard the frpp stingers on an automatic GT, and how did they sound?

2. Is the drone inside the car very noticible? Is it like soo annoying that you have to crank up the stereo?

Thanks in advance for everybodys help.

I have them, yep they drone right around 2k rpm. But on the freeway at 70, you'll hardly hear the exhaust. Mine is very quiet on the highway, and it's a vert. But in town, it is a little fatiguing. No way they come off though...I'm going to purchase dynamat or fatmat for the trunk and back seat area to tone things down a little bit.

They sound fabulous outside the car, I have had numerous compliments on the car's sound.

The drone is bad, but it's at a small RPM range, and you can easily accelerate around it. IMO drone and all there still the deepest best sounds mufflers on the market.

I have the FRPP Stingers installed on my car with 200 miles on it (1800 miles ago or so). It is also an automatic. I had the same concern that you did. Probably one of the things that convinced me to get them is Tacobills post and the comparison videos he has on Youtube. Well anyways, I thought they were loud and was afraid I had made a terrible mistake as soon as I got them on. Now I am thinking of my next step to make my car louder. It is true that whatever drone they make is at about the 2K marker, but it is not bad at all. Plus, once its past that RPM, its not bad at all. The only thing I did notice is that they might have caused a slight loss of torque in the low end.

I don't know where you live but I would recommend finding a reputable exhaust shop and having them bend you a couple of muffler deletes instead of spending 5bills on essentially the same thing.

Stingers drone a lot. I have a manual and have to cruise in 3rd around 40-45 because the drone in fourth is horrible. That was when I had a stock H-pipe. I personally like it but people that ride in my car sometimes get annoyed lol.

muffler deletes and the borla/frpp Stingers are hardly the same thing... The stingers are a chambered muffler which produces a really deep tone. Muffler deletes are raspy and pop a lot.

I need to correct myself, I had the stingers crossed up with boomtubes in my head. Disregard my previous statement. Thanks dan for the heads up.

haha yeah boomtubes are basically the same.. no problem.

to the OP: If you want a loud raw sound I would go for the muffler deletes because I've heard they hardly drone at all...
