jut got a recall reminder in the mail from ford. For the 2006 Mustang, all it says is "reprogram restraint control module". Anybody know anything about this?

I got the letter too and took mine in. It has to do withyour air bags for the passenger side. It didn't take them long, only 15 minutes and you don't have to worry about mods.

As per my understanding, the issue is something like:

If you have a very small person in the passenger seat (like a child or small female) and their seat is all the way forward and you get into a frontal collision at enough speed to set off the airbag, there is a chance the airbag will deploy in a less-than-ideal position relative to where they're sitting and could cause additional injury if they get hit with the bag in the wrong spot.

It seemed like a long-shot to me, mainly just Ford's legal team covering their asses, and I try my very best not to take my car to my Ford dealer for any reason, so I didn't bother.

However, if you don't mind those poorly-trained monkeys handling your car and wedging it into their nasty little parking lots, or you're going there for an oil change or something, may as well.

LOL How true! I think that the issue includes belts not being worn at the time also? I had it done, I had my last (ever) oil change there, oil change and recall I was doen in less than an hour. Done with the dealer, hopefully forever!

LOL, that's right! The person in question isn't wearing a seat belt either. I forgot about that.

But anyway, despite the astronomical odds of this situation never ever happening, it's a quick free fix, and if you're at the dealer anyway, you may as well. If you're talking about the safety of your passengers (especially if it's a kid or your girlfriend or wife or whatever, like in this instance) better safe than sorry.
