As I am backing up in my driveway, I hear this rattling sound directly underneath me. I pull it on the car ramps to check the exhaust to see if anything is loose...ok. Did not check the manifold bolts, but looks like everything tight..same ammount of threads showing on each stud. Pull it off the ramps, I remove the shifter boot, and kept reversing really slow, giving it more clutch than gas, and the noise sounds like its in the tranny or drive shaft. As I am backing, each turn the drive shaft makes, the noise comes. After all that nonsense, park it in the garage, a strange smell I never smelled before is there under the car. Im pretty concerned....anyone have any ideas of what this could be?? Sounds like the dealership on Monday I guess. I would like to have something to throw out there to them hopefully. Thanks guys.

Can I guess that you have an up slanted driveway? Mine does the same thing backing in the driveway, and mine has an up slant

 

i have a rattle i dont know were tho its only at a certin rpm

 

I have this same problem! Its very annoying, i thought it was my hanger rattling in the back because i don't have mufflers on my car at the moment.

 

i thougth it was that to but i tighten the **** out of the bolts and it still some were lol

 

Yeah my driveway is on a slant. I havent checked if it does it on a flat surface or not. Was going to check tonight when I go to work. I checked the drive shaft, nothing hitting it at all, exhaust is secure, shifter is secure. I am not at all why it rattles. Anyone else have any ideas?? Im open for any suggestions to check.

 

I know this is an old post but mine started to do the same thing too.

I recently installed a C&L intake and then it started. I do have a slightly up hill slant when I pull OUT of my driveway. Did you ever find the problem?
